I have gained much of my business experience through owning and managing my own companies over the years. I have been humbled through my involvement with the poor and needy both locally and overseas.
As a Christian I wish to help and support hospital staff, patients and their loved ones as they face the problems of illness and care, often with bewilderment and fear.
I feel the Governors must continually ensure that the hospital prioritises people not statistics and graphs and that the finances within the trusts care are managed and spent wisely.

I have spent several years in industry encouraging different, and often widely disparate disciplines to speak and more importantly to listen to each other.
I want to use the expertise i have gained to the benefit on my local community by bringing the L&D to the forefront of "best practice" and becoming the flagship of the NHS. To do this would require the most efficient use of existing high-cost resources.

I have been involved in the NHS for over four decades in a number of capacities - long-term patient, visiting relative and as a trained Nurse at St. Mary's and the L&D - and I believe I can add a valuable and constructive insight into our service.
As a motivated team-player, I believe I am a good communicator - I am a goal-orientated achiever with proven expertise in a multi-cultural environment. An L&D FT member since 2006, I plan to make a full contribution in my role as a Governor.

I have always been interested in healthcare and worked as a marketing assistant for the health care trust. As a mental health patient, I am particularly interested in representing mental health patients who may not be able to express their views as easily as I can.
As an English teacher and press officer for the County Council I feel I am a good communicator. I am flexible, friendly and approachable. I am a public member of the Foundation Trust and I know many healthcare workers at the L&D, both personally and professionally.

I have been teaching in Bedfordshire since 1975. Now retired, my career developed from class teacher at several local schools, to coordinator for Special Needs children. I was County Coordinator for maintaining progress of "Non-Commonwealth Pupils" in Bedfordshire, helping newly arrived families to settle into the community.
I was team leader for 10 teaching professionals to whom I delivered INSET training on curriculum development. I have been involved in recruiting teachers, had management training at Loughborough University and experience as a local school Governor.
I have lived and worked in Luton for over 30 years and feel my close contact with local families gives me understanding of their healthcare needs and concerns. I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the Governors with the hope of developing services responsive to the needs of the local community.

The front line staff of the L&D are second to none. But there are challenges because of the targets they have to meet. Targets are a blunt instrument in the healthcare system - the patients, their safety and care is of prime importance.
